What is Reiki?

Reiki is Japanese and consists of 2 parts REI and KI.
REI=Spiritual, spirit, soul
KI=Energy, life force

Reiki is translated in the West as: Universal life energy
Reiki is a holistic therapy/treatment that belongs to alternative healing methods. We work with the hands, treating the body with universal life energy.

When applying Reiki, the body is seen as one whole: body, mind, and soul. If all three are in balance or can be brought into balance by treatment, then the energy in the body can flow freely and one feels more balanced/stable.
Reiki is also used to support in case of illnesses.

Mikao Usui, a Japanese person, is the founder of the current Reiki.
Reiki is an ancient healing art and 2500 years ago it was mentioned in ancient writings.
Mikao Usui developed a system that should lead to happiness, harmony, and spiritual development.
The teaching that Mikao Usui gave took a more concrete form around 1922, after himself a long search and period of fasting and meditation on Mount Kurama.

Can I learn Reiki?
Everyone can learn and work with the Reiki energy, this does not require any specific prior training. Find a Reiki Master that suits you. Contact different Masters to ask for information or to ask for a conversation. Then find out if his or her approach suits you.
You can also ask a Reiki Master for treatment so you can feel if this Reiki Master suits you.
